We need to change the rules of the English Language in order to keep up with the rest of the world. We need to teach children to look at the synonyms of one syllable words and use a word with 2 or more syllables instead. The only exception to this rule is if one of the synonyms is an onomatopoeia. If there is an onomatopoeia the child is required to use that synonym. Example:
Wrong: Suzie wants a soda.
Right: Suzie wants a pop.
