The new government in Poland has taken dramatic steps since coming to power to reduce the rights of citizens and target opposition members for slander and arrest. As an important NATO ally whiten close proximity to the resurgent Russians, it is the best interest of the United States, the Polish people, and all NATO members to ensure democracy remains alive and strong in Poland. We ask President Obama to attend the NATO meetings and to make clear the stance of the United States as an ally to the Polish people and an enemy to those who would subvert the values of democracy.
