take a stand against childhood obesity by adding an hour on to the school day for mandatory exercise.

Created by J.K. on May 10, 2013

Introducing "healthier" school lunches is a good start but like any doctor will tell you, the key to being in shape is a healthy diet and exercise. We keep hearing over and over how kids need to get more exercise, they aren't going to change their habits at home because you tell them to, so let them get the exercise at school. I propose that an hour be added to the school day for exercise. Make the exercise mandatory and require fitness tests, of course a reward should be given for those that pass the test. In this way students would get their recommended 1 hour of exercise daily and their better health would be of benefit to everyone. (The teachers should have to do it too. 9/10 of the teachers I had throughout primary and secondary schooling were morbidly obese.)
