Take a stand against gender discrimination at the Western Wall during the President's upcoming trip to Israel.

Created by A.L. on March 11, 2013

We urge President Obama to take a stand against the ongoing discrimination against women and suppression of religious freedom that takes place at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Women seeking to pray publicly at the Wall have routinely been cursed at, spat on, and assaulted with chairs and garbage while the police have stood idly by. Dozens of women, including numerous American citizens, have been arrested for such "crimes" as wearing prayer shawls and singing aloud. These recurring incidents are a powerful testament to the wisdom of the American doctrine of separation of church and state. We therefore urge the President to avoid the requisite photo ops at the Western Wall during his upcoming trip to Israel and to speak out against the discrimination that goes on there.
