For more than 200 years politicians have been choosing their voters instead of voters choosing their politicians. The scourge of gerrymandering has gutted the democratic ideals the United States was founded upon. Extremism has become the norm in Washington D.C. as Representatives must continually pander to the most extreme wings of their political party. The Founders would be dismayed with the farce that our electoral system has become.
By supporting legal challenges to gerrymandering, promoting legislative changes to the way voting districts are drawn, and supporting judges who recognize gerrymandering for the unconstitutional calamity that it is, the President and the executive branch may have some influence in restoring the United States to the Democracy it was meant to be.
