Only actions can be criminal; one has a right to one's thoughts and feelings even if they include hatred. Crime is not worse if the criminal hates the victim. Even more obviously, crime is not any better if the criminal doesn't hate the victim. It is therefore unconstitutional to punish equivalent crimes differently based upon the feelings of the criminal.
In addition, it is hateful and destructive to label others as "hate groups" when the truth is they merely disagree with you. Usually the ones bandying this accusation are the ones who actually hate; thus any group or individual accusing another of being a hate group should automatically incur that designation for itself.
Mr. President, help restore civility to the national debate by rebuking those who accuse others of hate.
