The cost for Americans to pursue higher education has proven to be too much. The average cost to attend college continues to rise faster than that of the average person’s salary. If this continues the ability to attend college for the average person will be diminished. This will only serve to augment our decreasing ability to compete with foreign markets. Public colleges are increasing costs to attend their institution while at the same time cutting valuable classes. This is especially seen in state colleges who are receiving less aid than in previous years. These facts show that action needs to be taken to prevent a continuation to these trends.
