District of Columbia residents pay taxes and fight and die in wars, but do not have a vote in Congress.
David Agnew, Deputy Assistant to the President and the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, wrote that "President Obama supports a vote in Congress for the people of Washington, D.C. -- as well as Home Rule and budget autonomy," but few if any real steps have been taken to work towards this goal.
The only progress made is that the Presidential motorcade now features license plates with the official license plate motto of the District of Columbia, "Taxation Without Representation." In other words, no progress has been made in an effort to curb the injustice experienced by more than 600,000 Americans who live in the capital city.
