Within the current budget of NASA, task the organization to send people to Mars, and return them safely to the Earth. If we are to inspire our next generation of scientists, and engineers, then we must give them something great to aspire to. There are off-the-shelf plans, which can accomplish this venture, and keep in step with the science imperative with which NASA has been tasked. If we are going to spend billions of dollars to develop capabilities such as the SLS, then we should do something with them which advances human kind.
