Religious institutions are given special privileges when it comes to paying taxes. This gives special privileges and resources to people only based on belief. It discriminates against members of smaller religions and atheist. These institutions are hostile to many human rights and freedoms. They encourage ideologies that justify violence against people that use their freedom of speech to criticize or speak out against their practices. Many of these institutions also use the same freedoms to protest funerals and spread hate. They also support candidates and fund political agendas with special interest while receiving tax breaks. They should be taxed, and current laws that limit their political involvement for tax exempt status should be enforced.
