Tax all religious institutions!

Created by S.S. on February 20, 2013

I recently visited a "mega church" and I was astonished that such a place could be considered tax exempt. This got me thinking. Why should a church that behaves like business not be treated like a business, at least as far as the government is concerned? When a church is SELLING shirts, coffee mugs, books, etc, they are not contributing to society as a whole, but rather their own interests.

Some of these "pastors" are making several million dollars a year and flying around in private jets, all on money DONATED to them. I think its time they give back to the public via taxation. If they're as charitable as they say they are, then that shouldn't be a problem for them.
