Tax and Regulate Recreational Marijuana much like Alcohol (See many benefits)

Created by C.Y. on January 29, 2014

Intro:
We the people would like to legalize marijuana for recreational use. In the progressive era, alcohol was made illegal. As a result, a lot of organized crime formed and the sale of alcohol went untaxed while many groups made a huge profit on it. In the end it was a disaster and prohibition was repealed.

Is this not the same for marijuana? Are groups such as the cartel not turning a huge profit on it while we are spending literally millions just to stop the use of a drug that well over half of the American people say is okay?

Benefits:
-Job Creation
-Severely reduce the Cartels influence in America
-Ability to tax it and raise revenue
-Help stop the suffering of the chronically ill due to its many medicinal benefits
-Unplug overcrowded prisons
-Save tax dollars in drug war
