Tax Breaks for Renters

Created by L.J. on January 01, 2013

Renters are at a disadvantage, particularly in this economy. We can afford to rent, at exorbitant prices, but we cannot afford to purchase. This happens, more often than not, to single people who pursued the American dream and now have unmanageable educational debt. We are caught in a catch – 22: working and making decent money, but not wealthy enough to save for a down payment. This situation can be fixed, in part, by allowing renters to claim a portion of their rent on taxes. We cannot continue to be priced out of the market while the poor qualify for assistance and the wealthy can afford huge down payments. Join our fight to make fair and decent housing a RIGHT, not a privilege.
