Despite saying "church and state are separate" only in the US does granting people the same rights as others result in being saying they are being "religiously oppressed." Not to mention it feels like many churches don't participate in the charitable part of their organizations. Organized religion has turned into a business with some of these ministers and evangelists making millions and since we tax businesses it is about time we started to tax their mega churches, temples, etc.
