Tax the Churches of America.

We need to remove churches from the category of "charitable" entities.
Compared to the American Red Cross, which uses 92.1% of revenues for assistance and just 7.9% on operating expenses, churches on average have 71% of revenues going to ‘operating expenses,’ while help to the poor is somewhere within the remaining 29%. The Mormon Church only spends roughly .7% of its annual income on charity! Churches in America save 71 billion dollars a year from tax-exemption.
Tax-exemption is not a right - churches need to apply to be considered for tax exemption, just like any other tax-exempt organizations and charities.
As Mark Twain argued: "no church property is taxed and so the infidel and the atheist and the man without religion are taxed to make up the deficit in the public income thus caused."
