Tax exempt status of religious organizations

The first amendment to the US Constitution states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." As religious liberty is protected in the Constitution, the current crop of "religious freedom" laws are redundant, and are nothing more than the freedom to discriminate. These laws thrust religious organizations into the political arena. As such, giving churches special tax exemptions violates the separation of church and state, and those tax exemptions are a privilege, not a constitutional right. Since religious organizations benefit from these discriminatory laws which they have rallied for, this changes them from just being a church into a lobbying organization. This should eliminate their tax exempt status.
