Tax firearms and bullets like tobacco and alcohol.

Created by R.W. on May 29, 2013

By taxing firearms like the other products that are monitored by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms the issue of regulating the proliferation of guns becomes an issue of collecting taxes and not gun control. This tax would not infringe on one's right to own a gun, but it would instead put a financial responsibility on gun advocates to help bear the fiscal burden to the government and law enforcement due to gun violence.
Alcohol and tobacco are viewed by society as products that are hazardous, that need to be regulated, and the purchase those products help pay for their social cost; so why aren't firearms held to the same standard?
