There are cars now that are electric with a mpg of over 100, but no one is buying them. People are not buying a new fuel-efficient car, because they want to keep their old one. People can buy cars that are better for the environment, but the 2012 average mpg remains at 23.8. If we push people with these taxes, people will buy newer, better cars, and that number will increase. The amount of CO2 in the air will decrease. Instead of spewing over 900 million metric tons of CO2 each year, we would be having a more greener highways and a longer living earth.
