At a time where the deficit and unemployment are very high, politicians are raising million, some hundreds of million. It only benefits themselves and some will never end up getting elected into any offices. Political contributions are used for advertising and other expenses by political machines which are similar to corporations rather than not-for-profit entities, which tend to support others and/or a cause.
Is it fair that a factory worker pays more in taxes than an organization with hundreds of staffers and $50 million in cash, to support one person who could also get elected without spending a dollar, based on the merits of his/her program? Would it make sense to reallocate some of that money to pay off the national debt? Or are politics more important than budget stability?
