Tax Reform Allowing Deployed Contractors To Not Be Subject To Disqualification From The Foreign Earned Income Exclusion

Created by M.W. on January 21, 2013

Sponsor tax reform that would allow for U.S. Citizens and Resident Aliens working abroad as contractors and/or U.S. Government civilians/employees supporting combat operations and/or deployed with the United States Armed Forces and/or United States Government Agencies to be inside the United States for more than 35 days in 12 consecutive months without facing tax penalties and being disqualified from the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion.

Contractors and U.S. Government civilians/employees play a vital role in support operations. As many risk their lives working in dangerous environments and sacrifice in order to create better lives for themselves and their families why should they be penalized when returning home to the very country they are putting everything on the line for?
