Tax Reform: Replace the Income Tax with the Fair Tax, a tax on consumption to increase revenue & balance Federal budget

Created by J.N. on November 14, 2012

The Fair Tax would replace the Income Tax, fully fund the Federal Government at current level, Social Security, and Medicare. It would raise pay for everyone by removing the current deductions for FICA, Social Security, and Medicare. The Tax would be imbedded in the price of goods and services - not an added tax (like state sales taxes). Every family would receive a monthly government allocation to refund the taxation up to the poverty level for the taxpayer or household. Consumption is taxed, rather than production. American manufacturers would have an economic advantage over foreign manufacturers. No more deductions necessary. No incentive to send capital to offshore tax havens. Capital & Manufacturing would return to America. Rich would automatically pay more - no class warfare.
