Colleges generally pay no federal, state, or local taxes, including property taxes or sales tax. They receive tax dedutible contributions. They receive government subsidized student loans. They refuse to pay athletes, practically treat them like slaves, because if they did they would have to pay taxes. Only a relatively few lucky minorities go to college, many from overseas.
Hollywood receives federal and state tax credits not given to other industries.
Yet Hollywood and Universities generally ask for the most spending by the United States government. The rich should pay their fair share, and Universities and Hollywood are rich.
Eliminate the Hollywood credit. Tax the Universities. To help smaller colleges, the tax could start at net annual income of $5 million.
