Tax soft drinks and fast food

Created by M.G. on September 24, 2011

In order for citizens to understand what they are eating and for the government to undo some of what advertising has tried to veil, an excise tax should be applied to soft drinks and fast foods. I understand that companies' revenues will be adversely affected, but prices will not be raised to a prohibitively expensive level. The government would receive a revenue boost, obviously. I understand that an uproar from both companies and anti-tax politicians would reliably come about but the increase in consumer consciousness as well as a generous influx of money would overrule it.
