Taxes on tobacco products get pumped straight into the free-spending government. Addictive tobacco products; cigarettes, dip/chew, etc. are the leading causes of cancer amongst products of which we put into our bodies. Cancer is the one of the leading causes of health-related deaths in America. The expenses of cancer can cost a family hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions for treatment.
To allow consumers the freedom of purchasing such products, do not limit the sales of tobacco. Instead, add an additional tax to tobacco-related products. This same tax increase is to be donated from the American Government to the ACS (American Cancer Society) for further research to a permanent cure for cancer.
If we can afford to give ourselves cancer, we can afford to donate to the cure.
