I propose to adopt a Consumption tax system only, and totally scrap the current unfair, complicated and costly form of taxation.
Rather than punishing residents of this country at the time they make their money, and therefore creat and disincentive for wealth, and an incentive for tax evasion, residents should pay all their taxes (State and Fed.) in the form of consumption tax at the registers. The more they spend the more they pay taxes. This is, in my opinion, the only way to tax people fairly. For those who are poor and can not afford the added cost of taxation, they can be issued ID cards that they can use at the registres to identify them and apply, at the point of purchase, a waiver to the applicable tax rate, either in the from of discount or a complete waiver.
