Teaching military personnel/swat how to effectively handle or diffuse a Veteran.

Created by A.B. on March 07, 2016

Police/swat team have such a lack of knowledge on how to handle Veterans in my area, it has caused me to start a petition. My father is in the USAF. He has fought for our civil rights many times. He has been all over the world and fought before 9/11 and after. He also has ptsd, as most Veterans do. You can't approach a military member who has had years of training, has been overseas, and has ptsd the same way you handle a civilian. The VA office had the police go out on a "wellness" check which ended in a 7 hour swat stand off. The police started off with 1 guy walking up to my dad, another behind a van hiding with a gun, and two coming around the side of the house. Any person with common sense knows you can't approach a Veteran in such a manner and not expect them to go in to combat mode.
