On 02/25/16, AT&T has filed a filed a lawsuit in federal court on the grounds that the city of Louisville has unanimously voted on allowing Google to step in as a ISP option for Louisville. Google is offering a Gigabit Internet connection for the residents and businesses of the area (that will allow businesses to grow and get information out faster.)
AT&T claims that Louisville has no proper jurisdiction to allow a third party to step in and share the telephone poles. Beforehand, The city has passed a ruling called "One Touch Make Ready." The rule was that when adding the Gigabit system, the pole owner would be allowed to hire a team of contractors that they approved of to work on the pole.
Google is trying to make it easier for people to get online talk to family from afar and learn.
