Today, there is a growing epidemic of Americans who are unemployed. Yet, many companies discriminate against American workers who have been struggling to find a decent job with decent wages even a year after being let go or terminated.
ABC News recently reported that millions of unemployed Americans cannot find work because employers are saying they need not apply. A typical example of a job advertisement reads, "Candidates must be currently employed or must have left the job within the last 6 months." The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) held hearings on whether this practice constitutes illegal discrimination.
There is growing evidence that providing business incentives for retraining and educating the unemployed will have a positive effect on the US economy.
