Former President Jimmy Carter is calling on the Obama administration to recognize Palestinian statehood before leaving office January 20. Carter wrote. "The simple but vital step this administration must take before its term expires on Jan. 20 is to grant American diplomatic recognition to the state of Palestine." It's a much needed first step in a "negotiated end to the conflict based on two states."
