If I were president, I would say, "My fellow Americans, our long nightmare of terror is over. It is sad to say, that our own government has taken to 'fear tactics' equivalent to a terrorist to instill fear in Americans hearts and minds and to use this fear to justify wars, spying, tourture and other wasteful government projects that have very little to do with solving anything, and ironically a great deal to do with ruining our economy and that of the world. It has been reported that at least 18 new spy agencies have cropped up since 9/11. That is an indication that our government is either 'paranoid' or using the 'war on terror' to justify taking away our civil liberties. Either one is not good. To restore confidence, we need to eliminate fear. Roosevelt said it then and Obama should now.
