Heavy metals pose serious risks to human health if consumed or exposed in excess; many are carcinogens and can cause organ system failure. A major producer of heavy metals is the tire industry. Tires leach heavy metals, such as zinc and cadmium, due to their rubber components (just by being continuously used!).
