Temporarily federalize state National Guard units to protect America's schools until a permanent strategy is implemented

Created by A.C. on December 18, 2012

America's schoolchildren have not been adequately protected from the dangers from gun violence they potentially face in seeking an education in the United States. Multiple shootings have occurred in which children were killed in public schools before law enforcement was able to intervene.
While the chances for any one school becoming the victim of such an attack are remote, the consequences for failing to protect the children are so extreme as to require drastic, proactive measures to protect them.
Until a comprehensive strategy for significantly reducing the risk to America's students can developed (new gun safety laws, mental health diagnosis and treatment, and other policies) the President should utilize every tool at his disposal to prevent more tragedies from occurring.
