In 2012 alone, 10,228 were killed as a result of drunk driving accidents, accounting for 31% of all traffic fatalities for the year. According to MADD, 1/3 of those arrested for DUI are repeat offenders. Currently, drunk drivers can have their licenses revoked, serve jail time, or pay a fine. This is a petition to revoke the right to be served alcohol to those convicted of multiple DUI or DWI. The proposed amount of time is 90 days after the second conviction, doubling after each further incident (i.e. 180 days after third conviction, 360 after fourth). Enforcement will occur by having licenses or I.D.s subtly marked, similar to those with vision restrictions.
