Temporary Protected Status (TPS) Renewal for Nepal

Created by D.S. on June 24, 2016

On April 25th, 2015 a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal, killing 6,253 people and injuring nearly 10,200.A year later, some of the debris has been cleared away, but very little reconstruction has taken place. The majority of Nepali families who lost their houses now reside in precarious temporary dwellings made of corrugated metal, plastic tarpaulin and whatever other materials they could salvage.TPS allows Nepalis to work lawfully, to travel home to check on loved ones, to help rebuild their country from half way across the world. If it is not renewed, then thousands who were offered a measure of relief will be unable to support a country that is still struggling to rebuild. Let's all tell Jeh Johnson to renew TPS for Nepal.
