Due to the increased possibility of political stagnation from long standing members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, we the people demand a term limit of 12 years be set for each respective body of congress. It is historically difficult for an incumbent to be unseated from their office. There are numerous examples of a persons name alone allowing them the ability to establish and maintain a political dynasty in Washington. There are currently 189 sitting members of the House of Representatives, and 43 Senators who have been in office since 2001. It is time we took a stand and prevent the same people from making the same mistakes.
Furthermore due to the interest that Congress has in blocking this proposition we request a national open question in all states.
