Term Limits for Congress

Since the 1990s, more and more states have adopted term limits for their state legislature. These term limits encourage the idea of citizen legislators rather than career politicians, and promote the ideals of freedom and governmental transparency that legislative incumbency mocks. It is time for the federal government to follow suit. While the president has no power to act directly on this matter, he does have the power to make it a priority, to push back and wield his veto toward that goal, making congressional term limits a prominent, media-driven issue that congress won't be able to ignore. Thus this petition is for the President of the United States to make congressional term limits a priority for his final term in office; do everything you can to enact congressional term limits.
