Term Limits for Congress

Created by B.B. on January 18, 2013

Americans are overwhelmingly in favor of term limits for Congress. A new Gallup poll this week found that three-fourths of Americans would vote for term limits in both the U.S. House and U.S. Senate if they could.

Just a few points from restartcongress.org:

-With term limits in place, Congress will be more responsible toward their constituents because they will soon be constituents themselves.

-Members of Congress will have less time in office to develop financially beneficial commitments to lobbyists and other special interest groups.

-If term limits were enacted, toeing the party line would be less important, as the need for re-election would no longer be the driving force behind most legislative decisions.

Mr. President, we ask you push for term limit reform in your second term.
