The U.S. government’s Founding Fathers and framework declare a form of government where no one individual or group is solely in charge of the nation; this is the reasoning for presidential term limits. Congressional term limits would further prevent tyranny and corruption in the government. Limiting Congressional terms would prevent the same group of individuals from controlling American legislation repeatedly and would eliminate seniority. Seniority allows incumbents to hold ever-increasing positions of power and limits new ideas. If term limits are imposed, there would be a more balanced Congress with some incumbency and fresh voices, and there would be better, more thorough representation. Rather than focusing on reelection, members of Congress would devote time to addressing issues.
