Term limits for Congress and the Supreme Court

Created by K.L. on May 20, 2016

It is beyond obvious that members of Congress and the Supreme Court need to have their terms limited in length. Life-time appointments/obscene amounts of campaign cash have made them tone-deaf to We the People, and it is past time to constitutionally limit the length of tenure for ALL elected or appointed officials of government, not just the president. The proposed limits are as follows:
Four six-year terms in the Senate OR twelve terms in the House OR a combination of terms in the House and Senate equaling, but not exceeding, 24 years total. This petition also demands a one year waiting period for legislators between leaving office and going to work as a lobbyist. For the Supreme court, terms of eighteen years and then mandatory retirement.
