On January 11, 2016, the President-Elect of the United States claimed only "the press" cared about the lack of transparency regarding his financial documentation. In plain english, the president should be required to release tax returns and other financial documentation to the public for the sake of transparency and trust.
The public deserves to know how external interests may influence the future president.
We the people, call on Congress to act, and to require candidates and elected individuals for the highest federal office, to release their financial information freely to the public. This shall avoid conflict of interest accusations and uphold the trust in American democracy, as well as the individuals therein.
