On the 5th of April 2015, the Oba (King) Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos told Igbo leaders who paid a visit to him that the Igbo people must vote for Akinwunmi Ambode (APC) who is his preferred candidate. He further stated that If the Igbos went against his wishes, that he will make us perish in the lagoon within 7 days, stating that he should be labelled a "bastard" if it does not come to pass. This hate speech is a threat to the lives of Igbos living in lagos as the King's statement has incited some of the Yorubas against the Non-indigenes living in Lagos. The King holds a revered position in Yoruba land and his diatribe has incited aggression.
We request that he is made to face the law on grounds of inciting violence against a particular tribe, which could either lead to genocide or civil war.
