The current US Tax Code is almost 4 million words long. It is long, complicated, and confusing, usually causing average Americans to overpay or underpay, while corporations end up paying next to nothing because of loopholes and exemptions hidden deep within the tax code. I propose, to solve all these problems and satisfy both ends of the political spectrum, that we throw out the current tax code, and write a new, simple, one-page tax code, comprised only of the following:
Tax = 25% of income.
No exemptions, no hidden taxes, no confusing wording, just one simple tax.
Any tax revenue that might be lost could be made up for by ending corporate welfare and cutting wasteful spending in areas agreed upon in a future bipartisan meeting.
