Tie agricultural subsidies to daily nutritional requirements.

Created by R.M. on February 03, 2013

Our agricultural subsidies, in their current forms, are incredibly out of sync with the daily recommended intakes for each product.

If we tied our subsidies to these recommendations, not only would we incentivize an increase in our overall health as a nation, but we would give an incredible boost to small farmers. Some of the most highly profitable crops for small farms are specialty crops, especially vegetables, fruits and nuts. However, when compared to the most subsidized products, these products happen to be more expensive to produce, with longer establishment times in the case of fruit and nuts.

Please consider tying agricultural subsidies to nutrition, rather than purely economical but overall damaging reasons
