Congress has, itself, raised its salaries, perks, benefits, and health care entitlements far beyond what the average American makes; while at the same time reducing the number of hours they work to a three or four day work week. They receive a multitude of perks and benefits which taxpayers fund. Congress is supposed to represent the people and work for all American people.
ICongress is political welfare for individuals who care more about their political future than for striving to create a healthy, sustainable American economy and society. Eliminating political welfare and replacing it with a fair wage/benefits which reflect the rest of American society, we can be assured Congress will be filled with individuals who want to serve the American people through Congress
