Tie The Current Student Loan Interest Rate To The Federal Discount Rate.

Created by K.O. on June 12, 2013

Seriously, do I need to provide a logical argument as to why people borrowing for education should do so at the same interest rate as banks borrow from the Federal Reserve. Student loan debt is limiting the freedom and choices of our citizens. It is crippling a generation who would rather use their mental energy coming up with ideas to better society rather than flipping burger or waiting tables to pay off an education that should be as free as air. I know that kind of idealism is unrealistic because a trillion dollar cash cow like student loan debt which can not be discharged in bankruptcy is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow to any lender.Tying the student loan interest rate to the discount rate shows that America cares about the well being of future generations.
