Members of the Executive and Legislative branches of the government play a key role in ensuring the United States of America continues to be a going concern.
Year over year, elected officials have been unable, or more likely unwilling, to put forth a sincere effort to draft, agree on, and pass a comprehensive and balanced budget.
Therefore, I propose a law be passed which ties Executive and Legislative compensation to the passage of a BALANCED BUDGET. A prudent measure would be that in the event that Congress and the President cannot agree on a balanced budget, all Executive and Legislative TOTAL COMPENSATION (including all perks) reverts to the median income for the representative's district.
Perhaps with some skin in the game, lawmakers will take their jobs more seriously.
