Tie the pay of members of congress to the median incomes of the states they represent.

Created by M.B. on April 10, 2014

Congress has the right that no other employing entity has, to give its members a raise or a "cost of living" increase. In civilian society, the only way a person gets an increase in pay is if the company or instition grows and prospers.

This petition would call for a change in how congress is paid. Rather than their allotted salaries, congressional salaries are tied to the median income of their state. Whatever the median income of the state is, that is the pay that each representative or senator will receive. This would ensure that all members of congress would be working for the betterment of the state they represent. Without the state improving, congressional pay would no increase.
