Tie the salaries of elected officials to the income of the people they represent.

Created by B.M. on November 12, 2012

In order to encourage elected officials to work harder to improve the economic circumstances of their constituents, we submit this petition to establish a law whereby the salaries of elected officials is set at the median income of the people they represent as determined by the previous year's federal tax returns. The salaries would be reviewed each July 1st to see whether raises or decreases would be awarded. Benefits would be included in and not on top of the salary awarded.

For example, the salary of the President of the United States would be determined by the median income of all of the people of the United States, and Senator Harry Reid's salary would be determined by the median income of the people of the State of Nevada..
