So, if the federal minimum wage is $7.25, the yearly salary of a member of Congress would be $120,640 (7.25 x 40 x 52 x 8).
Now, $120,640 is nowhere near the $174,000 they earn now. Well, $7.25 is nowhere near where the minimum wage should be either.
Why 8x? Because $10.50 as a minimum wage would be decent and it would set Congress members’ salaries at $174,720.
