Toast With a Real "Cuba Libre": Remember the Bay of Pigs' Brigade 2506 heroes!

Created by M.A. on February 15, 2014

Whatever one's position on what can and should be done to "normalize" relations with the Castro brothers' regime, that should not mean a Stalin-like falsification of history.

Rather any effort should prominently recognize the heroism and sacrifice of the liberty-loving Cuban people.

Thus any change in relations between the world's oldest democracy and the Western Hemisphere's longest-running dictatorship should not, as President Obama has noted, include agreeing to lowering international standards on democracy and human rights.

Nor should it be about the shelving recent shared history, which is why a monument needs to be erected in our nation's capital that memorializes the Bay of Pigs (Batalla de Girón) heroes and martyrs of Brigade 2506, as well as other victims of the Castro regime.
